Brian and Pippa Knotted… Mickey’s at his best!

Well, it’s official. The wedding ceremony and bash for Brian Ormond and Pippa O’Connor is one for the record books. They were married @ St. Patrick’s Church, Curtlestown, Co. Wicklow on Saturday the 18th. Brian and Pip exchanged vows in front of 90 guests including family, close friends and a fair representation from the celebrity world. Reception followed at the Ritz-Carleton for a party of 300.

As expected, the festivities were high visibility.  Video crews were on hand from RTE capturing images destined for upcoming programming on Irish TV.  VIP Magazine snapped the photos. And, the mainstream press was well-represented.

Among celebrities attending were Irish soccer star Robbie Keane and his model wife Claudine Palmer, former Miss World winner Rosanna Davison and her boyfriend millionaire heir Wesley Quirke, 28 TV host Brian Dowling, 33, model Karen Fitzpatrick, TV presenter and model Avril Kelly, and Sky TV presenter Louise Loughman and her husband, property mogul Stephen Byrne.

And… of course Mickey sang!  One of many memorable moments of this festive celebration of love.

Next… watch for updates on the TV programme!

Mickey Harte… Brian Ormond’s Best Mate!

Those who already follow the Irish celebrity scene eagerly await the “other” Big Bash wedding of this year’s season. That would be the hitching party of glam model Pippa O’Connor and RTE’s Brian Ormond set for 18th June at the stylish Ritz-Carlton in Co. Wicklow. The event is anticipated to feature an exclusive guest list including one Mickey Joe Harte.  Mickey’s been tapped by Brian to be his Best Man!

Mickey and Brian truly are best mates, having established a friendship going back to the “You’re A Star” days when both were competitors. And, it’s been full on since, leading up to Mickey appropriately hosting/organizing a recent “stag” event for Brian and Company in Portugal.  Not to be satisfied with a single evening, the thing took on a life of its own stretching on for a week of sun, fun, golf, music, and mirth. Said MJ just after the event, “good thing Brian’s only getting married once.  I couldn’t handle another gig like that!”

Well, “that gig” is only a warm-up for the wedding party. And the icing of the cake? Appropriately for adoring fans, video crews will be on-hand to capture the party festivities for a wee documentary destined to hit TV post-honeymoon. Will Mickey perform a special number for the happy couple?  Stay tuned!

Mickey writes more from North Carolina…

Sooooo… I left you high and dry ( as of Monday 11th Oct)… while I was being somewhat of a recluse in the breath-taking beauty of The River House, Grassy Creek,  NC. I had basically scheduled in some quieter days (12-13 oct) on purpose to dot the i’s and cross the t’s on the new songs for the new album project (working title “man’s aloud to dream??”) and it worked a treat.

Then they shipped me off to the the farm house for one last night and boys did it feel secluded, but with no distractions.  Not even a mouse, or mobile network available… or should i say cell service!!

But that suited me perfect! Donovan (tour manager) etc.,  etc., came to visit for an hour and brought some BBQ food and beer… so he was made feel very welcome indeed by a young (ish) Donegal lad thirsty and hungry… and boy did it taste special. I think the surroundings certainly helped TOO!!

They say there are some spirits roaming round the old buildings from back when the war between the states claimed so many of the local boys and men… some of them still a little upset.  I would be too.

Thurs morning (14 oct) came quicker than i thought it would as i worked pretty much through the night on some of the new tunes and Donovan’s knock came as usual on time… 10am if i remember correctly. He  drove us some 3 or so hours (stevie ray vaughan blasting all the way) to the Raleigh/Durham/ Chapel Hill area of NC.. and over the next few days I gigged in some interesting spots. First night thurs 14th in Tir na Nog… a really cool Irish themed joint with proper live venue and rig to boot. Scott on the board got it sounding amazing… then Kildares in Chapel Hill fri 15th… and Devines in Durham sat 16th.

The highlight of the wk end was a gig somewhat of a casual affair organised by my host  David Glenn… a fine and kind man who i can honestly say is now a close friend. He invited some music folk, media types and friends too to his gaf and I played a full set it the sunshine for all. We even had natural reverb from the valley behind his garden.. but it was a special day  i wont forget for long long time. Next morning flew early to Chicago for another wk.

OK so enough for now… ill get to all thing Chicago in my next update…

shine on.. MJ

Starting to feel like the Sound of Summer

Here is the Music Player. You need to installl flash player to show this cool thing!

Warm sunny days got you dreaming of the summer-to-come?  Well, here’s a song from Mickey Harte to complement the pleasant mood swing.

Sound of Summer was composed by Mickey just after viewing “Beautiful Dreamer” the documentary about Brian Wilson of The Beach Boys. Here’s Mickey on the subject…

“I felt that the only place he truly could be himself and where he could escape to was his music and creating the sound of the summer as he did for all of us.  He and The Beach  Boys are quintessentially the music of the summer.  This was my way of acknowledging that amazing contribution and saying thank you for the same. God bless The Man and his work.

We recorded the track in Valley Studios, Donegal with Terry McGinty, Rory Gallagher, Mickey D O’Donnell, Paul Daly, and myself. Mixed in Pulse Studios, Dublin by Garret Manix. Pre production and arrangement by Rob Burke. Produced by Mj Harte/ R. Gallagher.”

Celtic Force friends…Getting to know Mickey Harte

Through our work as Celtic Force, we often meet interesting people. Sometimes, we have the rare chance to know someone very special. Consider Irish singer/songwriter Mickey Harte as one of those rare ones.

For those not already knowing, Mickey Harte is a bit of a star in the Irish music world. Quadruple platinum record sales tend to engender avid attention and he’s garnered both. Mickey is indeed a very talented musical artist. He also just happens to be a really genuine and affable guy. So much so that we want to share with you a bit about Mickey Harte.

The meteoric arc of Mickey Harte’s professional career began with a win of the Eurovision 2003 song contest. For us Americans, that would be the European equivalent of being an “American Idol.” Today, Mickey is often on Irish television, hobnobs with celebrities, is asked to headline charity gigs, and even provides musical scoring for popular programming.

Along with everything else, Mickey is working on a new album and has been touring Ireland and Europe promoting previous works. His ambition is to bring his songs and music to as many countries as possible and touch the lives of people with his words and sound.

Mickey has long-considered prospects for gaining wider audience in North America. Hint… stay tuned. Chances are, you just might have more opportunities to get to know Mickey.
